1. I just bought a printing press for block printing, such as linocuts, on Ebay. This may be a bad idea, since I haven't made any prints this year, but we'll see.
2. There's an artist at art fair that makes huge latch-hooked rugs of infamous villains, such as Osama bin Laden. She's advertising them with slogans like "stomp on Osama" or "wipe your feet on Osama's face" or something like that. I find that rather artless and opportunistic, yet at the same time I want to drag my latch-hook Mao downtown on Saturday. I did not get to talk to the artist, but I spoke with two of her cohorts, and they immediately seemed to grasp that my project was much more about iconography than it was about praising or panning political views.
