Diving into a barrel

I dreamt that I had signed up to dive from a 10-meter platform into a wide metal barrel. It was for the thrill, like bungee-jumping or recreational parachuting. When I got up to the top of the platform it was dizzying. It looked more like 20 meters than 10. The barrel looked small and shallow. "What if I overshoot? Is it deep enough?"

My brother, the diver, told me that I would be fine. "There are air jets at the bottom of the barrel. Even though it isn't very deep, it will stop your fall. Just don't belly flop."

Lots of people were looking up, watching in anticipation. My palms were sweaty.

"This is really only something that old people do when they are trying to prove they are still young," he told me. "But nobody young would do this."
