A canoe trip on the Huron River

mrrranda and I took an eight hour canoe ride from Dexter Metropark to the Argo Canoe Livery yesterday. (They say it's a six hour ride, but we took our time and stopped twice to picnic along the way).

Here are some photos of the trip, including quite a few masterpieces that feature mrrranda from the back.

The water was low and we occasionally got stuck or caught on a rock, and I had to get out and push the canoe. We only got frustrated with each other a couple times as we tried to navigate various rocky areas, particularly when at crucial moments I would confuse the words "right" and "left."

It was a beautiful day, and we saw heron (or maybe they were egrets), swan, ducks, a frog, a very healthy-looking picnic-fed park squirrel, turtles, and a variety of fish. Both of us got a little too much sun.
