Dust off the bike, dust off the quadraceps
Another near-spring day today, so I decided to get my bike out of the basement and pay a surprise visit to
flastron over in Westland.
On the way out I took Nixon Road north to Warren and took Warren east. On the map, this looked great, but Warren is a dirt road. It was beautiful--lots of red barns, old silos, horses, even a couple llamas--but a slow and dirty route. Then I cut over M-14 on Curtis Road and picked up Ann Arbor-Plymouth Road, which I took through downtown Plymouth to Lilley (so I could pass my old apartment building) and then went east on Joy Road until I could pick up the I-275 bike trail. I took that to Ford Road, to Wyane, to
flastron's. Approximately 30 miles in about 2 hours.
I hung out there for a couple hours and then realized that I had better start heading back, since the sun would be setting soon. I did the same route the way back, only once on Ann Arbor-Plymouth Road I just stuck with that all the way back. Approximately 30 miles, but this time it took 3-and-a-half hours.
I imagine I'll have difficult walking tomorrow morning.
