Like Clockwork

As I passed by Treasure Mart on my way home Saturday afternoon, a guy about my age said, "Hey, I've got a story for you." I didn't know he meant me, but mrrranda said, "Chris, I think he's talking to you."

Indeed, he was. "I see you walking to work every day, man. I use you to figure out if I'm running late or if I'm on time. I say, 'Hey, the guy in the green jacket just started walking up the bridge. I've got plenty of time.' Or, 'Uh-oh, the guy in the green jacket already turned onto Division. I'm gonna be late!'"

"That's cool," I said. "See you around!" I completely forgot to tell him that in my shopping bag was my brand new black jacket. Was he confused this morning when he didn't see the guy in the green jacket? Will he think that I changed jackets specifically to thwart him?
