The Catcher in the Rye

My father told me he had to hide behind the barn to read The Catcher in the Rye, because he would've gotten in big trouble if his parents found out he was reading it. He said the only thing he remembers from the book is that "neat guys always have crummy razors" (Holden in reference to his roommate Stradlater).

I don't remember much of it either. There were a lot of phonies. What stands out, though, is that Holden decided not to jump out a window because he couldn't stand the thought of people looking at his dead body.

What is the singular thing that sticks in your mind from The Catcher in the Rye?
