While the cat is away, the mice will play. Since well_lahdidah, who has previously indicated her preference for movies that are not Polish dramas, is out of town for a few days I have decided it is the perfect time to watch Andrzej Wajda's A Generation, Kanal, and Ashes and Diamonds.
The guy at the video store was a little confused. "You're not actually Polish, are you?" he said.
To make Polish Cinema Challenge 2006 a little more interesting, I have decided to drink a quart of beer while watching the movies. (Yuengling Lager, conveniently enough, can be purchased in quart bottles.) Will I fall asleep before the end? It's a race against time!
Next week I start classes. I'm going to take a business class at Wharton. Isn't that kind of funny? I think it is. It's like I'm infiltrating someplace I'm definitely not supposed to be. We'll see how it goes.
Wharton in literature:
"She was a crazy mathematics major from the Wharton School of Business who could not count to twenty-eight each month without getting into trouble." (About Lieutenant Scheisskopf's wife and her many infidelities leading to pregnancies, from Joseph Heller's Catch-22.)
